Host Insurance Coverage Requirement

Gethooptie is committed to providing a safe and reliable carpooling service that benefits both drivers and passengers. As part of this commitment, we require all hosts on the Gethooptie app to have valid and current auto insurance coverage that meets the minimum requirements set by the laws of West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. This policy outlines the terms and conditions related to the host insurance coverage, which makes it mandatory for the host to have insurance coverage as the company shall not be liable to cover the host. The policy also includes the laws of West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. related to host insurance coverage, and is designed to provide coverage for bodily injury, property damage, and personal injury liability for the host and passengers. Please read this policy carefully and comply with its terms and conditions to ensure a safe and enjoyable carpooling experience for everyone using the Gethooptie app. This policy makes it mandatory for the host to have insurance coverage, as the company shall not be liable to cover the host.

1. Definitions

In this policy, the following definitions apply:
“Gethooptie” refers to the carpool service app that connects drivers and passengers for ridesharing.
“Host” refers to the individual who is driving the vehicle and providing the carpool service through the Gethooptie app.
“Passengers” refer to individuals who are being transported in the vehicle as part of the carpool service.
“Vehicle” refers to the car or other vehicle being used for the carpool service.

2. Insurance Coverage Requirement

It is mandatory for all hosts on the Gethooptie app to have valid and current auto insurance coverage that meets the minimum requirements set by the laws of West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. Hosts are required to provide proof of insurance coverage before they can start using the Gethooptie app. If a host does not have valid and current insurance coverage, they will not be allowed to use the Gethooptie app as a driver.

3. Coverage

This policy provides coverage for bodily injury, property damage, and personal injury liability for the host and passengers. The policy covers damages and losses caused by an accident involving the vehicle while it is being used for the carpool service. The coverage limits for liability are in accordance with the minimum requirements set by the laws of West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C, as follows:

a) Virginia: $50,000 for bodily injury or death of one person, $100,000 for bodily injury or death of two or more people, and $25,000 for property damage.
b) Washington, D.C.: $25,000 for bodily injury or death of one person, $50,000 for bodily injury or death of two or more people, and $20,000 for property damage.
c) West Virginia: $25,000 for bodily injury or death of one person, $50,000 for bodily injury or death of two or more people, and $25,000 for property damage.
d) Maryland: $300,000 for bodily injury or death of one person, $100,000 for bodily injury or death of two or more people, and $400,000 for property damage.

The policy also covers reasonable expenses for medical treatment of the host and passengers in the event of an accident.

4. Exclusions

This policy does not cover the following:
a. Intentional acts committed by the host or passengers that result in bodily injury or property damage.
b. Driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
c. Racing or participating in any form of speed contest.
d. Using the vehicle for any illegal activities.
e. Using the vehicle for any commercial purposes other than carpooling.

5. Policy Limits

The policy limit for each coverage option is as follows:
a. Bodily Injury Liability: Up to the minimum requirements set by the laws of Virginia and Washington, D.C.
b. Property Damage Liability: Up to the minimum requirements set by the laws of Virginia and Washington, D.C.
c. Medical Expenses: Up to the maximum limit set by the policy.

6. Policy Excess

The policy excess is the amount that the host is responsible for paying before the policy coverage applies. The policy excess is set at $500 for each coverage option.

7. Claim Process

In the event of an accident, the host must immediately report the accident to the police and the insurance company. The host must provide all relevant information related to the accident and cooperate with the insurance company in the investigation. The insurance company will assess the damages and losses and determine the amount of compensation to be paid to the host and passengers.

8. Termination

The Gethooptie app may terminate the use of the app by the host at any time for any reason, including failure to provide proof of valid and current insurance coverage, violation of the terms and conditions of the policy, or any other reason deemed necessary by the company. Changes to Policy The Gethooptie app reserves the right to make changes to this policy at any time, without prior notice to the host. Hosts are encouraged to review this policy periodically to ensure that they are in compliance with the terms and conditions.

9. Applicable Law

This policy is governed by the laws of Virginia and Washington, D.C., and any legal disputes related to this policy shall be resolved in accordance with those laws.

10. Acknowledgment

By using the Gethooptie app as a host, the host acknowledges that they have read and understood this policy, and agrees to abide by its terms and conditions. The host also acknowledges that they have valid and current auto insurance coverage that meets the minimum requirements set by the laws of Virginia and Washington, D.C. The host further acknowledges that the Gethooptie app shall not be liable for any damages or losses that arise from the host’s failure to comply with this policy, including failure to maintain valid and current insurance coverage.
